Overdevelopment: protect the places we love

Manly is iconic: the look and feel of the Corso, beachfront and surrounding suburbs and bushland all create a unique and internationally recognised landscape. Its charm is very much at the base of our lifestyle, and our economy. Overdevelopment may lead to it looking like other places on our coast, and will detract from our identity.

Kathryn Ridge:

Will maintain the Manly beachfront high-rise ban.

Keeping its unique charm is a priority, as is ensuring:

  • Adequate infrastructure such as parking and amenities being adequately provided for in all new development projects.
  • Advocating for appropriate height restrictions for different areas of Manly, so as not to detract from the look and feel of Manly.
  • Preservation of our environmental values through the regulation of new development in areas of environmental significance.

Currently the NSW Government has the most extensive reforms to planning laws out for community consultation, so if you would like to know more, please have a read.
