Healthcare access is a major concerns as the population of the Manly area expands.

Meanwhile, the private Northern Beaches Hospital, which is set to start operations in 2018, will treat both private and public patients through a long-term contract between Northern Sydney Local Health District and Healthscope.

The Government should make publicly available the details of the long term contract in terms of ensuring public patients 20 year guarantee of service. Of particular concern is how decisions will be made when to treat patients in the private hospital and when to allocate patients to Mona Vale or other public hospitals.

The new facility will result in a reduction in the number of beds at Mona Vale Hospital, as well as the closure of Manly Hospital, which affects the current staff, including nurses.

Kathryn Ridge:

Will continue fighting to keep the Manly Hospital site in community hands as a health & wellness centre.

Will ensure Northern Beaches Hospital has adequate patient care ratios. New, modern buildings are good, but safe staffing levels are also essential.

Will take advantage of the Northern Beaches Hospital, Manly Hospital health & wellness centre and Royal Far West rebuild to create an e-Health hub in the Manly electorate.
